The Royal Family will attend the funeral of the Duchess of Kent which takes place later today at Westminster Cathedral.

King Charles will be at the service, the first time a Monarch has been at a public Catholic funeral for a senior royal in three centuries.

The Duchess of Kent died on September 4 2025 at the age of 92.

King Charles and Queen Camilla and members of the Royal Family will attend the Requiem Mass for the Duchess of Kent on 16 September.

The Archbishop of Westminster, will preside over the Requiem Mass, while the Dean of Windsor and Bishop James Curry, Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, will also participate in the service.

The day before the funeral, the coffin of the Duchess of Kent was brought to the Cathedral in the Royal Hearse.

The coffin was covered in the Royal Standard and a large wreath of white and pink flowers rested on top of it.

A lone piper from the Royal Dragoon Guards walked solemnly in front of the Royal Hearse as it left Kensington Palace.

A Bearer Party of Royal Dragoon Guards was waiting at Westminster Cathedral to carry in the coffin. The Duke of Kent bowed his head as it passed.

The Duke of Kent was supported by his daughter, Lady Helen Taylor, as well as his two sons, the Earl of St. Andrews and Lord Nicholas Windsor.

The immediate family of the Duchess of Kent attended the Rite of Reception and Vespers that was held on the eve of her funeral.

Princess Alexandra, 88, and Prince Michael of Kent, 83, were present at the private service.

The Royal Family will join the immediate relatives of the Duchess for the funeral which will be followed by a private burial at Frogmore Burial Ground at Windsor.
