King Charles has a royal first to look forward to in April

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that a long mooted State Visit
by King Charles to the US will go ahead and the announcement
contained another royal first.

At the same time as the Palace announced The King and Queen were
heading to the US during April, royal officials confirmed that
Charles III would then continue on to Bermuda for a visit.

And that will be the first visit to the country by a reigning
British king.

It will also be the first visit to a British Overseas Territory
made by King Charles since the start of his reign.

The US Visit had been under debate following the start of the
Iran war but Buckingham Palace has now said it will take place as
King Charles and Queen Camilla head to the country to help mar the
250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The exact dates will be announced shortly but it’s known that
they couple will head to the US in April.

It follows the State Visit of US President Donald Trump to the
UK last autumn. President Trump and his wife, Melania, were the
guests of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.

It was an unprecedented second State Visit by an elected
politician – usually, those voted into office are only welcomed
once on such a trip to the UK.

The State Visit of King Charles and Queen Camilla to the US
comes almost twenty years after the last such trip. Queen Elizabeth
II made a State Visit in 2007 when she was hosted by President
George W Bush. It was the fourth and final State Visit to the US of
her 70 year reign.

There are also reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales
could be heading to the US later in the summer on an official
visit.

The announcement of the State Visit came just hours after
President Trump told countries including the UK to ”go get your own
oil” as the situation in the Straits of Hormuz escalated.
