Plugin Boutique is offering Native Instruments FM8 for $10 until August 16th.

This is the lowest price I have ever seen for FM8. We have covered some great Native Instruments deals on BPB before, including FM8 at $24.50 last year, but I don’t remember seeing it drop below $10.

If you have been waiting to add NI’s classic FM synth to your collection, this is probably the best price you will get.

FM8 is a classic for a reason. It is not the newest-looking synth in 2026, and FM synthesis still takes some patience if you want to program sounds from scratch, but FM8 remains one of the most flexible and musical software FM instruments around.

I always liked how NI approached it in FM8, building the entire workflow around the Matrix, where you connect operators and set modulation amounts without digging through pages of hidden routing. Each operator also has its own detailed editing page for waveform selection, frequency settings, MIDI response, panning, amplitude, and multi-breakpoint envelopes.

If you want a faster way in, the Easy Edit page gives you simpler macro-style controls that adjust more complex parameters behind the scenes. There is also the Operator Overview page for seeing the most important operator settings at once, plus the Envelope Expert page for viewing and editing multiple envelopes together.

FM8 includes more than 1,200 presets, covering the obvious FM classics like glassy bells, digital keys, plucked tones, basses, and metallic percussion. It also expands on the traditional FM stuff with the Morph Square, which lets you blend between four timbres, and a deep arpeggiator with 48 templates, shuffle, note length, velocity, transposition, repeats, and keyboard split options.

The synth also includes 12 effects, including Overdrive, Tube Amp, Cabinet, Talk Wah, shelving and peak EQ, Phaser, Flanger, and Tremolo.

Plugin Boutique also lists free gifts with the purchase, including Melodyne 5 Essential, Baby Audio TAIP, Serato Hex FX, Bitwig Studio 8-Track, and Excite Audio Evolve Alloy Lite.

FM8 runs on Windows 10 or 11 in VST and AAX formats. On macOS 13, 14, or 15, it supports VST, AU, and AAX, with native Apple Silicon support. An internet connection is required for download and activation, but FM8 can be used offline afterward.
